Pine Tree juniors Stephanie Viramontes and Jose Aranda have been selected for the prestigious QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program. Jose and Stephanie were among 3,518 honorees selected from a pool of more than 15,000 nationwide candidates based on their academic excellence and personal qualities.
Being accepted into the QuestBridge program as a junior increases a student's chances of matching with a college as a senior. The program also provides free access to full scholarships to a college summer program hosted by Yale, Emory, UChicago, and others, personalized college essay feedback, college campus visits, and specialized guidance and resources for the college application process. Sophomores are encouraged to ask Pine Tree High School's College and Career Readiness Counselor, Mrs. Heather Hernandez, for more information if they are interested in applying as a junior. Senior Awards Night is May 11, 2023, at 6:30 pm in the Little Theater at Pine Tree High School.
Pine Tree competed in the Texas Association of Pupil Transportation Bus Safety Speech state contest. Our Pirates performed well and earned scholarships for their efforts. Carter Terry finished 1st place in the senior division and received a $600 scholarship. Aiden McQueary finished 3rd place in the sophomore division and received a $200 scholarship.
